Red Dead Redemption 2 was a huge hit upon release and many were impressed with the prequel to the original game which was released 8 years earlier. While many have enjoyed the longevity of Red Dead Redemption 2 and its frequent updates which have kept it an entertaining title since its release, some want to see additional DLC. A petition has been started to get a single-player DLC for players who enjoyed the long campaign in the game but not the online gameplay.

The game developed by Rockstar Games places players in the declining wild west as they navigate an expansive story as well as wrestling with greater ethical questions about morality. The result was an earnest story and a huge open world that earned Red Dead Redemption 2 critical acclaim. However, after two years it seems that some players have grown tired of the core-campaign and would now like to see new story-based content in the game.

The petition started by Ivan Ojeda states "Let's get our voices heard. We want Red Dead Redemption 2 Single player DLCs. It doesn't have to be free." The message is clear and the petition seems to be picking up supporters steadily with 243 supporters and a goal of 500 signatures. The comments on the petition express support for more Red Dead Redemption 2 content as well as displeasure with the online experience. With that said, despite early comments a single-player DLC would not have to run contrary to an online experience, in fact, for Rockstar Games the key factor in any decision will be how many players will pick up the game if changes are made.

Red Dead Redemption 2 sold very well and the team behind the game would have to question whether additional DLC would draw many new players in. With that said, existing players may purchase more content if it developed on the original campaign enough but this would require considerable effort in terms of development. With the online elements of the game still entertaining players, as well as players investing money in return, the game may remain in its current state for some time as there does not seem to be a pressing need for more offline content.

There is plenty to uncover in Red Dead Redemption 2 and players are still actively finding hidden features. Despite this large world, it seems that players would enjoy even more content and with that in mind, there is always hope that Rockstar Games will develop a DLC for single-player fans. However, it may be best for players to continue to explore the existing world rather than wait for DLC.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
