Earlier this week, a product listing for a PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 was posted by MediaMarkt (a European multinational retailer), igniting rumors that Rockstar may release the much-anticipated title on the platform, as the listing offered customers the chance to pre-order the game. Unfortunately, though, the retailer has confirmed that the listing was only a placeholder and not confirmation of a PC version.

In response to a recent inquiry, representatives of MediaMarkt stated that although it was true that a listing for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 had been made on its Swedish site with the option to pre-order, the listing was simply a placeholder. That said, though, MediaMarkt representatives went on further to state that the company does count on the game being announced for PC in the near future. Be that as it may, the retailer has currently removed the option to pre-order from the listing.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 due to be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One soon, many have been wondering whether or not the game will be released for PC sometime in the future, as Rockstar famously made the first entry of the series a console-only release. It is important to note, though, that the publisher has made no comment this far about the open world western ever receiving a PC release.

While it seems like somewhat of an unspoken trend for Rockstar games to be released on console first, many of the publisher’s biggest titles have received PC releases, albeit sometime later. Grand Theft Auto 5, for instance, famously took just over a year and a half to receive a PC port, with many believing it was this decision that helped the game become the most profitable entertainment product of all-time.

All things considered, it is currently unclear as to whether Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on PC or not. So, it looks as if all players keen to play the game will only be able to do so on consoles.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is due to be released on October 26, 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One.
