Red Dead Redemption 2 is officially announced for PC and, despite some frustrations with its stunted rollout on PC platforms, Rockstar fans are very excited to get ahold of the game. And while just having the Red Dead Redemption 2 available on PC is certainly exciting news, Rockstar's enhancements of the game for PC are perhaps going unacknowledged. To showcase just what Red Dead Redemption 2 will look like on PC, Rockstar's released a new trailer.

The minute-long trailer may not be substantive in terms of showcasing Red Dead Redemption 2's gameplay or story, but that's not the trailer's goal. Its goal is to showcase the core new visual enhancements for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Those visual enhancements are being advertised by Rockstar as multiple different features, with too many to list. They will, at the very least, include increased draw distance, improved shadows, improved lighting, and new grass and fur textures.

Altogether the trailer features 20 different scenes from Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. The opening scene, for example, features a wide-open space in the desert. It showcases the new draw distance, with the train and its smoke, birds, and foliage in the scene stretching into the distance. Other scenes showcase bodies of water, featuring Red Dead Redemption 2's new reflection tech. Fog and haze are showcased in swamps, snowstorms, and smoky bars. Perhaps the best scenes, however, are those at night with a flickering campfire in the foreground and the starry sky in the background.

PC gamers who want the full effect of the new Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer can also play it in 4K resolution at 60fps. 4K isn't necessarily new, given that Xbox One X managed to reach that resolution. But the visual enhancements introduced in the PC version become all the more exciting shown at 4K resolution. As for whether PC gamers have the PC hardware to manage 4K resolution during gameplay, that's another matter entirely.

Visual enhancements aren't the only new addition to Red Dead Redemption 2's PC release. The game is also adding new weapons, bounty hunts, and other content to the game when it launches on PC. There are no official plans to add new story-based content, unfortunately. But Red Dead Redemption 2 already has plenty of story content, to be fair. And plenty of updates to Red Dead Online post-launch, too.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. It launches on PC starting November 5, and is also in development for Stadia.
