It won't be long now before Rockstar Games' open world western Red Dead Redemption 2 becomes available for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, as the title officially goes live starting next weekend. Unfortunately, though, PC players are going to be left out of the fun, as Rockstar has not announced a version for personal computers. However, a recent online retail listing is potentially pointing toward the possibility of the studio bringing RDR2 to PC in 2019.

According to a listing on MediaMarkt–one of “Europe’s largest retailers for consumer electronics”–a 2019 launch could be in the books for Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, as a placeholder date of December 31, 2019 is shown. While this is an exciting prospect for PC fans, it's worth keeping in mind that this detail could have been posted by mistake, as retailers occasionally jump the gun and post placeholders for products that may not technically exist just yet.

Should the MediaMarkt listing be accurate, however, it wouldn't be the first instance of evidence related to a possible PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 surfacing online before an official announcement. As it so happens, a Rockstar programmer's resume showed up on LinkedIn not too long ago, detailing that they had worked on a PC iteration of the forthcoming open world western game.

As some may agree, based on the aforementioned evidence and consumer demand, it wouldn't be too out of the ordinary for Rockstar to eventually put out the PC release of Red Dead Redemption 2 next year. After all, there have been plenty of instances of developers releasing console versions of its games first, only to then release the PC iteration thereafter, with Bungie's Destiny 2 and Monster Hunter World being prime examples of this.

The only difference in this case, though, is that Rockstar hasn't actually confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 will be getting a PC port yet. So, if the listing on MediaMarkt is to be believed, then the developer could be attempting to maximize its profits for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions near launch and a little thereafter. Plus, not launching PC copies alongside the console versions helps the studio avoid having dataminers leak content from the game before the assets are announced.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to release on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
