NPC interactions in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be amazingly realistic and engaging, as one player recently found out when they witnessed an NPC unexpectedly shoot himself in the leg. Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game packed full of detail that adds depth to the game world and makes it feel more alive. Developed by Rockstar Games, the action-adventure game is the third installment in the Red Dead series and is set in 1899 in the Wild West.

There are also numerous ways in which Red Dead Redemption 2 players can interact with their surroundings and the NPCs that inhabit them. Arthur Morgan, the protagonist of the game, can interact in several ways with NPCs: he can greet or antagonize them, purchase different items from them, and even rob them. However, one of the most fun activities to do in Red Dead Redemption 2 is simply engaging in combat with the game's inhabitants. Thanks to RDR2’s Euphoria physics system, which is integrated into its proprietary RAGE game engine, the game features a range of detailed animations that make the NPCs' movements and reactions feel realistic and fun to watch.

One interesting detail that Reddit user febreze_air_freshner has recently discovered is that in Red Dead Redemption 2 enemies can actually shoot themselves while being lassoed. As depicted in the video below, after Arthur tries to dodge the enemy’s bullets, he attempts to lasso his adversary, who is wielding a powerful sawed-off shotgun. The lasso grabs the NPC’s leg just as soon as he is finished reloading his gun. Perhaps panicked by the unexpected move, the NPC shoots himself immediately as he is dragged toward Arthur.

This results in a gruesome scene as the blast was powerful enough to instantly kill the NPC, with his leg being completely blown to smithereens. Red Dead Redemption 2's combat mechanics are remarkable and add to the immersion and realism of the experience. All this is thanks to the game's impressive physics system, motion capture technology, and the developer’s attention to detail.

Many people believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most realistic video games of all time due to its meticulously crafted open-world environment that feels like a living, breathing place. Everything from the weather to the way NPCs react to the player is designed to create a sense of realism and immersion. Red Dead Redemption 2 has seen remarkable success since its release, with over 50 million copies sold worldwide.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
