Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of some pretty strange things, which has left plenty to be discovered more than a year after the game's initial release. All these details mingle together to lead to some pretty interesting events, including a random NPC becoming a vicious murderer without any real explanation.

A recent video uploaded to YouTube by dmarlow310 shows Arthur Morgan enter a confrontation with an NPC, when suddenly another NPC turns around, runs over to the pair, and stabs the NPC Arthur is fighting in the neck, killing them pretty much instantly. The clip has left a lot of players scratching their heads, as there's little reason why this specific NPC would come to Arthur's aid.

The NPC was a fair distance away when the fight broke out, even walking in the opposite direction. Still, the character does an about-face, sneaks up behind the other NPC, then stabs them in the neck. Most unsettlingly, the NPC then walks away like nothing happens, raising further questions about how this vicious NPC came to be. Who knows, maybe Red Dead Redemption 2 has a new villain in the making.

Some players have speculated that it's just a strange reaction to the game's conflict detection system, while others believe that it was purposefully put into the game, and the murderous NPC is just an opportunist. Red Dead Redemption 2 has a few bugs, and it seems likely that this was just one of them. Still, it is cool to imagine that Red Dead Redemption 2 NPCs have personalities that are defined all the way down to violent tendencies.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of interesting details, and together they create a pretty convincing world for players to explore. The game has been out for more than a year now, but players still regularly discover new things buried within it, so there's likely more to come.

Red Dead even has its own Mount Chiliad mystery now, which will likely see players trying to unravel its secrets for quite some time to come. It's hard to say exactly what players will discover, but hopefully, it justifies the effort fans are bound to put into uncovering the mystery.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
