Red Dead Redemption 2's open world is a dangerous place, full of outlaws and vicious wild animals. It also has some more macabre elements as well, including a serial killer on the loose, as well as a pack of possibly inbred swamp people known to the locals as the Night Folk.

The encounter with the Night Folk in Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the scariest experiences in the entire game, and it happens at Bayou Nwa, north of Saint Denis. If players explore the Lakay swamp area late at night, they will potentially encounter some of the Night Folk. If they do, they will get a hidden Stranger mission marked on their map called "A Fine Night for It."

Here is the exact location of the swamp players need to explore to unlock the Night Folk mission in Red Dead Redemption 2:

After having a Night Folk encounter, players need to rest, either at camp or an inn. Doing this should trigger the game to mark the map with the actual Stranger mission, which is given by an old man at a camp. Players will have to follow the old man to his home to start the "A Fine Night for It" mission proper.

The Night Folk mission in Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely one of the scarier missions in the game, but as previously stated, it's not the only creepy thing players will find in the game's massive open world. There's the aforementioned serial killer quest as well, not to mention a UFO and a supernatural ghost train.

Of course, there's also plenty of relaxing activities to partake in when players are out exploring. For example, they can play poker, fish, or even get a drink at the local saloon. In fact, after spending some time with the creepy Night Folk, a drink may be just what Arthur Morgan needs.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
