It's been a very long road for Red Dead Redemption 2 following multiple delays but with only a few weeks remaining before it officially launches, the wait appears to have been well worth it. Rockstar Games has been steadily revealing more and more about the game from its new protagonist Arthur Morgan, to all of the new mechanics and systems at play in the stunning and huge open world. While Red Dead Redemption 2 is poised to be Rockstar's most visually stunning game ever, the experience appears to be even better for Xbox One X owners.

In a recent Tweet from the Xbox France account, it was confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been optimized and will be able to run in native 4K HDR, the highest possible console settings, on the Xbox One X. At this time, Sony has yet to officially confirm if the same settings can be applied to the PS4 Pro, but knowing that the console is slightly less powerful than the Xbox One X, it's likely that the settings will need to be upscaled to 4K.

Regardless of platform, PlayStation and Xbox players will still get to experience a visually gorgeous game. Rockstar has been known to release games that push current technology, seen most recently in Grand Theft Auto 5 which originally launched for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems. The developer's internal RAGE engine has been upgraded especially for this game and is able to run in HDR internally for TVs that support it. With HDR enabled, players should notice even better draw distances and visual details as opposed to those who are not using it.

The visual settings will certainly be pushed to the limit as Red Dead Redemption 2 boosts the largest map that Rockstar Games has ever created. Players have already seen a variety of locations through previous trailers such as snow-capped mountains to the grassy plains, but thanks to a recent interview, the actual map size was revealed. The largest map ever claim wasn't hyperbole as Red Dead Redemption 2 not only contains the entire map from the previous game but adds plenty of new areas to explore as well.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th.
