It is without a doubt that Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the biggest games that was released in the past decade, which is why it is not unusual for players to miss small details about the game. Of course, given Red Dead Redemption 2's vast open-world environment and immersive story, players are easily absorbed into the game as soon as they play it.

Now, Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for nearly two years now and players are still discovering small new details about the game. Of course, these details do not really affect gameplay in any way, but they are still interesting to know and is a testament of the blood and sweat that Rockstar Games has poured into Red Dead Redemption 2.

Arthur Morgan's Eyes

The first on this list is a discovery made by Reddit user ChanDanGreene99 who noticed that Arthur's pupils in Red Dead Redemption 2 would dilate depending on the lighting. Understandably, most players have probably missed this feature given that one must have to look directly into Arthur's eyes to witness this awesome little detail. Of course, this does not affect Red Dead Redemption 2's gameplay at all, but it just goes to show that Rockstar Games really took their time and effort in offering a realistic gameplay experience that they even added features to the game even if there's a high probability that players won't even notice.

Reloading Bullets

Another hidden detail that players recently discovered has something to do with Arthur reloading his gun. In a short video clip posted by Reddit user Bornstellar67, they claim that whenever Arthur reloads his gun, he begins mouthing something as he is loading bullets back into the weapon. Initially, Bornstellar67 thought that Arthur may have been quietly counting the number of bullets inserted into the gun as he reloads it. However, other players were not convinced. In the Reddit post, another user believes that Arthur is saying something else as he reloads the gun, given that his lips do not shape the words for numbers, which of course piqued the interest of other players. Some claim that this could just be a glitch with the dialogue audio, while others claim that Arthur may just be counting off time.

Realistic Wildlife

One of the biggest features in Red Dead Redemption 2 is its vast open-world environment that is beaming with all sorts of wildlife. Of course, apart from playing the main campaign, Red Dead Redemption 2 players can also go out and explore the game's world and take in the digital nature. In a short clip posted by Reddit user PPLove, they witnessed an interesting wildlife interaction where two bucks began banging their antlers together.

Of course, this particular interaction isn't a secret, given that other animals also engage in a fight in the game. However, PPLove discovered something they haven't seen before and during the fight between the two bucks, one has died but its antlers were caught in the other buck. The recording showed how the other buck struggled to get free from his dead opponent and it eventually succeeded without any help. PPLove speculates that this particular interaction could very well be a new addition to the game probably during a recent update, given that this is the first time they saw this and because it hasn't been shared before.

Arthur's Hygiene

In hopes of truly offering a realistic and immersive experience, Rockstar Games added the option for players to bathe every once in a while in-game. Although this feature does not really affect gameplay, the world around the player will definitely react if Arthur never bathes. Players who don't pay attention to Arthur's hygiene will notice that customers of saloons will spur out snide remarks and shopkeepers may even exclaim their disgust. Moreover, if Arthur enters Eagle Eye, there will be a physical manifestation of his body odor, which is an indicator that the character needs to hit the tub. Of course, this again shows the level of detail buried within the game, given that NPC's are aware of the player's personal hygiene and will even have their own reactions to it. Just one of the many reasons why a lot of people are praising Red Dead Redemption 2.

Newspapers Write About You

Last on this list revolves around the newspaper. For those unaware, Red Dead Redemption 2's newspaper called the Saint-Denis Times is definitely worth picking up. From time-to-time players will notice that the newspaper constantly writes about the Van der Linde Gang's activities, and it may even talk about a mission that the player recently accomplished. Of course, given that reading in a video game is not exactly the favorite activity of some players, this feature is easily missed. However, it's just one of those small things that make Red Dead Redemption 2 extremely fun to play because these details combined with the amazing story and vast open-world, make for a game that players will play for a long time.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
