There are a lot of characters in Rockstar’s smash-hit Red Dead Redemption 2. There is the beloved protagonist Arthur, the sweet-talking Dutch, the conniving Micah, the widow-turned-badass Sadie, the father figure Hosea, and almost a dozen other key characters in the game’s sweeping narrative, but one character that is often overlooked is that of Miss Grimshaw. This is where the community stepped in to give some love to her.
Miss Grimshaw was the matriarch of the Van der Linde gang in Red Dead Redemption 2, and one of the earliest members at that. She started out as the partner of the fascinating and charismatic gang leader Dutch van der Linde, but even after their romantic split, Ms. Grimshaw kept by his side and watched over the gang wherever it went as it grew. Each new location the gang moved to, Ms. Grimshaw was the one to organize and oversee it all. She kept the Van der Linde gang’s camp a well-oiled machine by making sure every member earned their keep. She fiercely defended her gang until the very end, and she never stopped looking out for those in it.
All things being considered there are more important things to the overarching plot of Red Dead Redemption 2, but one Reddit user felt that meant she deserved her own moment for fans of the game to acknowledge her contributions. Reddit user RemyTheRatStan made a post asking for appreciation for Ms. Grimshaw yesterday that blew up, garnering nearly 500 upvotes at the time of this writing. Remy points out the hard work she put into the camp, and her unwavering loyalty to the gang.

Fans in the comments referenced her sometimes demanding nature when it came to the player making sure Arthur did his chores and donated enough money to buy upgrades for the camp, but they all agreed that her nagging only proved how much she cared about the Van der Linde gang’s wellbeing. Others pointed out Ms. Grimshaw’s love for Tilly and the small moment where she tells her what a fine young woman she has become. Others reminisced about the moments where she forced Arthur to bathe if the player chose to neglect Arthur’s hygiene, which was always quite humorous.
Needless to say, the story of Red Dead Redemption 2 would not have come together to be a masterpiece in quite the same way if Ms. Grimshaw was not around. Maybe someday some story DLC that is oft requested by fans could show some more of Ms. Grimshaw in the gang’s heyday, or even how she got her start with Dutch.
