While there's plenty of new stuff to explore and experiment within Red Dead Redemption 2, players now need to manage three cores for the game's main protagonist, Arthur Morgan. Health, Stamina, and his Dead Eye gauge dictate how much damage Arthur can take, how far he can run before getting tired, and how often he can slow down time to rapidly kill targets. At the beginning, these meters are fairly small, though players can accumulate experience to increase their level and effectiveness.

Just like his health and Dead Eye meters, stamina can also be improved over the course of the game by performing certain activities. In total, players will need to accumulate 1100 XP in order to advance the meter to its maximum level. For those who want to be able to sprint for longer among other benefits, here are all of the things to focus on to gain stamina experience in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Get Active

With stamina so tightly linked to sprinting, the easiest way to get better at it is to simply run everywhere rather than ride a horse. While it may not be the best use of a player's time considering how large the map is, players gain 20XP for every 100 meters they run.

Just like running, swimming is another great activity to perform in order to gain stamina XP. For every 15 seconds a player swims in a body of water, they'll earn 20XP. Just make sure to watch out for hostile water animals like alligators.

Combat Survival

While it may be tough to plan for, there is a way to gain stamina XP through combat. If a player can survive a combat encounter with less than 25 health remaining, they'll get 20XP towards stamina. It's not immediately known if fist fighting counts towards this as well since simply winning a fist fight gives the player health meter XP.

Stamina Challenges

Finally, there are specific challenges that players can complete to get a sizable stamina XP boost. Although it's not the easiest way to increase the stamina meter, completing these challenges gives the most significant boost. By finishing Explorer, Horseman, and Survivalist, players can earn 1425 XP for the stamina meter. The first challenge level awards 25 XP which then rises to the maximum 150 XP for the final level.

Explorer tasks the player with collecting and then finding hidden treasure based on maps they discover. Horseman involves the player performing various activities from the back of their horse such as hunting certain animals from horseback, riding certain distances in a set amount of time, or even dragging a lassoed victim a certain distance behind the horse. Finally, Survivalist has the player catching various animals, crafting certain gear, and killing animals under certain conditions.

In addition to a maxed out Stamina meter, don't forget to check out our other guides to get the remaining meters, Health and Dead Eye, to their maximum levels as well.
