It won't be long now before Rockstar Games' open world western title Red Dead Redemption 2 officially hits store shelves, so the developer is ramping up promotion for the sequel as much as possible in order to remind fans of its release. Now, the developer has officially put out RDR2's launch trailer that showcases main thrust of the plot, its realistic environments of turn-of-the-century America, a handful of action-packed set pieces, and more.

As seen below in Red Dead Redemption 2's launch trailer, fans are introduced to the protagonist Arthur Morgan at the end of the Wild West era in 1899. After a robbery gone wrong, Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee, with federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation on their heels. In order to survive, the gang must rob, steal, and fight their way across the heartland of America. Throughout this struggle, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

For those unaware, Red Dead Redemption 2 is supposed to contain Rockstar Games' largest map ever created, which indicates that there ought to be much more for players to do beyond the sequel's primary campaign. Not to mention, Rockstar will be launching the title's multiplayer component Red Dead Online in beta next month, so should fans tire of the main game, there's always the online experience to look forward to.

With Red Dead Redemption 2 almost here, those who have already decided to purchase the title would do well to pre-order it before next week, as the pre-loading period begins this Friday. The game's file sizes for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will take up quite a decent bit of storage space, so it's good that Rockstar will be allowing players to get their consoles ready for when the game goes live.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
