Although pretty much anyone scrolling through Twitter over the last two months has surely seen by now, The Last of Us 2 has been an extraordinarily divisive game, with players seeming to either adamantly despise it or shower it in praise. While there are several different points of contention that have firmly split the player base, most pale in comparison to the game's ending, which has been the subject of several heated Twitter threads and Subreddits.

It seems one player has taken it upon themselves to show how the game's divisive epilogue would look if applied to a different game, with YouTuber Point Zero offering a different ending to Red Dead Redemption 2 that follows the same narrative beats as Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic epic. The results are undeniably hilarious, with the content creator adding a number of new scenes to Red Dead Redemption 2's finale that directly mimick the ending of The Last of Us 2. Be warned, spoilers for The Last of Us 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 ahead.

The video begins during the final moments of Red Dead Redemption 2's story, with John Marston engaged in a standoff with Dutch Van Der Linde and Michah Bell. Those who've played the story will know that Bell kills the game's protagonist Arthur Morgan a few hours earlier in the campaign, with John spending the remaining runtime tracking him down to gain his revenge.

Just as John's about to get his revenge (which, in the game's actual ending, he does), he sees a vision of Arthur playing the guitar. The premonition forces him to stop and let Micah walk away scot-free. Of course, this is meant to mirror The Last of Us 2's ending, with Ellie going after Abby to get her revenge after she kills Joel early in the game. She too stops after remembering the last time she talked with her estranged father figure, letting her nemesis go free in an emotional climax.

With Micah still alive, John returns home to an empty farm, much like Ellie does in The Last of Us 2There, he amusingly spawns a guitar out of thin air and begins playing it badly, clearly in reference to the fact Ellie can't play her own guitar during the final scene after losing her fingers during her fight with Abby. He then stands up, the guitar hilariously floating by his side, and walks out of the front door of the farm as the camera awkwardly pans to the window to watch him stroll off into the distance.

Regardless of what opinions may be of The Last of Us 2 and its ending, Point Zero's recreation is a hilarious reimagining that is solid proof of how creative the community behind Red Dead Redemption 2 can be. It's also sparked up some solid debates in the comments, with fans comparing both games and the messages they convey.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
