Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a huge hit for its developer, Rockstar Games, and the game continues to get a steady stream of content. The cowboy western based game managed to live up to its predecessor, however, a new PC mod for the game pays homage to an even earlier part of Rockstar's history.

Rockstar previously had a hidden mini-game in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas entitled "Hot Coffee". The hidden part of the game became infamous and many searched for it. It was finally discovered and it depicted sexual intercourse with the player controlling CJ. Naturally, there was a huge backlash when this mini-game was discovered, but it did go down in video-game history. Now a mod in Red Dead Redemption 2 acts as a tribute to the original mini-game.

There had been some concerns about whether players would be able to have mods in Red Dead Redemption 2 when it came to the PC. Fortunately, this concern was quickly taken care of and Red Dead Redemption 2 managed to host some of the best mods of last year. However, it seems that the publisher of the game, Take-Two Interactive, have not looked upon the Hot Coffee mod favorably. One of the creators of the mod, username Unlosing, stated that "I find it crazy how Rockstar Games can add hookers to its games, but when someone uploads a mod (not even of the same quality) it’s suddenly ‘inappropriate’".

It does seem odd that a company is unhappy with a tribute to its history. Yet this may be indicative of the changes that are happening within Rockstar Games, one of the heads of the company Dan Houser is stepping down. While the reaction from the company and Houser's departure are unrelated, it may be a sign that Take-Two Interactive want to change the direction that Rockstar has been heading in. If this is the case, then it will be a difficult task to change the elements that have made Rockstar titles some of the most successful in gaming history while pleasing fans.

There are still plenty of mysteries to be found in Red Dead Redemption 2, and some players will not invest in mods. However, the game has managed to have some of the best mods of recent memory. Whether this mod will be banned or removed remains to be seen. What is clear is that it pays homage to Rockstar Games and its earlier titles effectively.
