Red Dead Redemption 2's narrative migrates players through its expansive map as Dutch van der Linde transitions the gang to hole-up sites that are unsafe and out in the open. Dutch's desire to keep his family safe appears to dwindle throughout Red Dead Redemption 2, and with each campsite and establishment that players arrive to it becomes clearer that Dutch's obsessive greed is subsuming the needs of the collective.

Horseshoe Overlook provides the Van der Linde gang with one of the first hideouts that players have access to in Red Dead Redemption 2. While camp amenities and side activities are available during different parts of the day, players may not necessarily choose to spend a great amount of time within the campsite's perimeters. Still, one fan has stumbled upon a unique NPC interaction that occurs at the Horseshoe Overlook hideout, with a certain strangeness that has caught them off guard.

RipWanVinkle shares gameplay footage where two strangers show up at the gang's campsite and are initially approached by Bill Williamson and Hosea Matthews. It is unclear who the pair of strangers are, but the two NPC companions do a fine job of securing the perimeter and not letting them come closer onto Horseshoe Overlook grounds. A brief and awkward moment passes where neither the two strangers nor Arthur's companions say anything. Players may be apprehensive at this sight, considering how often ambushes and gunfights occur in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The strangers are an arguable cause for concern, particularly if they happened to belong to a rival gang. Aftera all, rival gang scouts may be inconspicuously observing the gang's campground and picking an opportune time to strike. With such a drawn out pause before the strangers do anything, it has given fans the sensation of "an old western" where individuals would be ready to draw pistols at a moment's notice. However, it appears as though this interaction in Red Dead Redemption 2 is less hostile than fans may assume.

Other fans have experienced this perplexing encounter beforehand, explaining that its peculiarity is due to a glitch in what has triggered the event. Before the strangers calmly leave, there is supposed to be more dialogue shared between the characters that would fill the awkward lapse in conversation that RipWanVinkle has experienced. It seems as though this interaction could easily become hostile if players intervene as such, but Hosea mitigates any potential threat to the camp if players remain idle.

Hosea sends the strangers away after confusing them with eloquent speech, circumventing any possibility of the strangers becoming aggressive. Players are unsure why the dialogue is glitched to not trigger in RipWanVinkle's Red Dead Redemption 2 footage, though the end result is the same as if the voice lines had triggered.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
