Despite Arthur Morgan being the protagonist in Red Dead Redemption 2, his character is only fleshed out in terms of his relationships to the other characters in Dutch van der Linde's gang.  Fans have found hidden dialogue during casual gambling mini-games in Red Dead Redemption 2 that shed more light on his character.

Playing dominoes at train stations and post offices lets players exact their revenge against the table if they are busted out of the game, while a rigid circumference around the gang's camps negates players from attacking or even sprinting while inside it. Likewise, dominoes is commonly free-to-play while playing inside the camp, meaning that the player does not have to risk losing hard-earned money. However, fans are acknowledging that a substantial part of playing these mini-games in camp is to prompt optional conversations with other characters in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Omega3568 has found dialogue that they have not come across before in over 500 hours of time spent playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Omega3568 admits that they hate the dominoes mini-game, resulting in them having never found dialogue that exists solely during these matches. The hidden dialogue then comes from a bit of small talk between Arthur Morgan and Mary-Beth Gaskill, who is Arthur's opponent in the dominoes match. Mary-Beth asks Arthur about a flower that he has sitting in a jar on a shelf beside his bed. Arthur's answer lends heartfelt insight into his character, stating that the flower is native to California and Oregon and reminds him of his mother.

Mini-games such as poker, dominoes, and Five Finger Fillet can be played casually within the gang's camps. Camps are uprooted and moved to other locations on the map throughout the game's progression. But there is almost always an NPC from camp who is willing to partake in at least one mini-game at any given time of the day. These mini-games are not necessarily lucrative, and may oftentimes progress Red Dead Redemption 2's day-and-night cycle multiple times during a single match. Because they are so time-consuming with little reward other than personal satisfaction, it is unsurprising that many fans would choose to ignore them in favor of more exciting events in Red Dead Redemption 2's open world.

Another Red Dead Redemption 2 fan, el_guerrero98, states that players may "unlock brand new dialogue and side quests" if they take the time to play with each gang member. Many fans have completed 100% progression in Red Dead Redemption 2. But it is still exciting to see fans stumble upon dialogue that they would not have found otherwise, and in such unassuming parts of the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
