Take-Two Interactive recently shared a significant sales feat achieved by its subsidiary company, Rockstar Games, as Grand Theft Auto 5 sales have supassed 90 million, with the developer set to release the hotly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 later this year to what many presume will be resounding success. That said, with the western action-adventure title surely being a major priority for Rockstar, some players might be concerned that when RDR2 does arrive, support for GTA Online could slow to a halt.

According to Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick, Grand Theft Auto Online fans shouldn't worry a bit about the matter, for when Red Dead Redemption 2 launches, GTA Online support will continue unabated.  As Zelnick explained to the publisher's investors during a recent quarterly earnings call, "Rockstar Games has said they intend to continue to support Grand Theft Auto Online, and that support of Grand Theft Auto Online has nothing to do with the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2. These are different projects and they stand independent of one another."

While many Grand Theft Auto Online fans saw the inclusion of a limited time Treasure Hunt that rewarded players the new Red Dead Redemption 2 double action revolver as a sign that Rockstar Games would be shifting the focus of it multiplayer updates to the open world western title, that doesn't seem to be the case at all for the time being. If Zelnick is to be believed, then the developer has plenty of resources available to focus on both games at once.

Taking all of this into consideration, it makes sense for Rockstar to continue giving support to GTA Online, especially considering the fact that that Grand Theft Auto 5 copies keep selling like hot cakes. And with Red Dead Redemption 2's release date still a ways off, the developer has plenty of time to create supplementary content for Grand Theft Auto Online that should keep players roaming the streets of Los Santos for the foreseeable future.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
