The massive open world of Red Dead Redemption 2 has been noted for its realism, including its representation of the dangers the real Wild West posted. In the game, players can encounter deadly outlaws, dangerous weather conditions, and a variety of animals that can tear protagonist Arthur Morgan to shreds. However, the game world also has some bizarre and sometimes even supernatural terrors as well, with some that are downright creepy.

Here are the five creepiest things Red Dead Redemption 2 players can find in the game. Please note that this article will have potential spoilers for anyone hoping to experience these easter eggs naturally.

5 1. Ghost Train

Tales of ghost ships dominate the folklore of the seven seas, just as tales of ghost trains are whispered around a campfire at night in the west. If Arthur visits the train tracks in the northwest part of Lemoyne late at night, around 3am, his horse will start panicking, and the translucent ghost train will roar into view. There doesn't seem to be any kind of reward attached to the ghost train (which some fans have noted seems to resemble the famous Phantom Train from Final Fantasy 6), but it's still an interesting easter egg nevertheless.

4 2. Night Folk

The ghost train may be creepy, but at least it doesn't pose a threat to Arthur's well-being. The same can't be said for the Night Folk, who are a savage group of possibly inbred individuals that terrorize the swamps north of Saint Denis at night. By exploring the Lakay swamp area in Bayou Nwa, players may possibly stumble upon the Night Folk, and their encounter with these lunatics is definitely not something they are likely to forget any time soon.

3 3. Serial Killer

Red Dead Redemption 2: How to Find Serial Killer

Imagine just strolling along a path, and then stumbling upon a trail of dismembered bodies. After drawing up the courage to follow the horrific trail, you find a severed head with a note stuffed in its mouth. Well, that's exactly what happens to Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, and that note serves as a clue to find another head, which serves as a clue to find yet another head. This twisted treasure hunt eventually leads Arthur straight to the serial killer himself, and one of the game's most memorable encounters.

2 4. UFO Easter Egg

Not to be outdone by the extravagant UFO easter egg in Grand Theft Auto 5Red Dead Redemption 2 also has a UFO easter egg of its own. Considerably less convoluted than the UFO easter egg in its predecessor, Red Dead Redemption 2 players first need to visit a shack in Hani's Bethel, New Hanover where they will find some skeletal remains and a note that says, "KUHKOWABA, VOYAGER OF TIME AND GALAXIES."

After finding the note, they then need to follow the objective marker to the top of Mount Shann, which is northwest of Strawberry in West Elizabeth. At the top of the mountain, they will find a mysterious rock circle. When that's done, players will want to return to the shack at night and they will experience some strange extraterrestrial phenomenon, capped off by a bright green glow. We're not saying it was aliens, but...

1 5. Vampire of Saint Denis

Red Dead Redemption 2 has UFOs, crazed swamp people, and ghost trains, so why not vampires? By following the secret Saint Denis map, players will find themselves on the trail of a vampire, who is feeding on the unlucky citizens of the city late at night. Finding the vampire consists of following a series of clues and being in the right alley at the right time, but it's worth the trouble. After killing the creature of the night, Arthur can loot its body for the Ornate Dagger, dubbed the "vampire dagger" by fans.

Besides the creepy things listed here, there are other strange sights in Red Dead Redemption 2. For example, players can find the mutant in the above image, and they can also find what appears to be a deactivated robot sitting on top of a hill. There are likely even more creepy easter eggs that have yet to be discovered by Red Dead Redemption 2 players, and it's also possible that the upcoming Red Dead Online will have some as well, so it will be interesting to see what comes to light in the next few weeks.
