Red Dead Redemption 2 is no stranger to secrets and mysteries. Although the game is pretty much grounded in reality for the most part, Rockstar Games still infused some supernatural elements in Red Dead Redemption 2, which only makes its story and overall experience more interesting.

Just recently, a relatively new secret in Red Dead Redemption 2's Saint-Denis theater was discovered by eagle-eyed fans. Unfortunately, this particular secret was never explained, which added to the game's long list of unsolved mysteries. Now, for those interested in the game's more spooky side, here are all the ghost encounters in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Ghost Train

red dead redemption 2 ghost train

One of the spookiest Easter eggs that players will discover in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the Ghost Train that can be found in Lemoyne. According to several sources, the Ghost Train is a direct reference to the Phantom Train boss battle in Final Fantasy 6 that was released for the SNES in 1994.

Now, for those who are interested to encounter the Ghost Train themselves, they first need to head to the North-West part of Lemoyne just beside the Lemoyne sign. From there, the player must mount their horse and ride up and down the train track at around 3:00 AM. At the moment, it appears that an encounter with the Ghost Train triggers at random, so if the sun starts to rise and the players still haven't seen it, they just need to go to sleep and try again the next night.

Upon successfully triggering the event, the player's horse would begin to shudder and become whiny, which is the signal that the Ghost Train is about to spawn. There is no direct explanation in the game as to the origins of The Ghost Train in Red Dead Redemption 2. However, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that the train is an exact replica of the Phantom Train in Final Fantasy 6. It is currently unclear why Rockstar Games paid homage to the classic RPG title; however, it is worth noting that encountering the train won't reward players with anything.

The Ghost of Agnes Dowd

Another popular supernatural sightings in Red Dead Redemption 2 revolves around the ghost of Agnes Dowd.Unlike the Ghost Train, this specific encounter involves an actual ghost so it's probably not the best idea to hunt down Agnes' apparition in the middle of a late gaming session. Of course, those brave enough to try must head again to Lemoyne to encounter the ghost.

Interestingly enough, players may hear about Agnes' ghost from NPC's in Red Dead Redemption 2 who have already encountered her while exploring the swamps at night. To trigger this event, players must simply head to the northwest portion of Bluewater Marsh sometime between 9 PM and 3 AM when the weather is foggy. From there, players will hear Agnes Dowd's ghost shouting, giving away her location.

Players report that the supernatural encounter with Agnes Dowd can happen as much as 16 times, and each encounter would reveal new dialogue that will help players learn more about her. In every encounter, if the player gets too close to her, she will simply disappear. However, if players stay back, they will witness how Agnes died, which is both tragic and creepy at the same time.

Ghost Sighting in Red Dead Online

Now, it appears that ghost sightings are also present in Red Dead Online, and similar to the base game, Red Dead Online offers a huge map that offers new things for players to explore every day. Some players recently posted a weird encounter they had in the online game, which they suspect to be a ghost sighting.

In a video posted on Reddit, players encountered the so-called ghost in the settlement of Colter, which is the first location players can explore in the game. During this specific encounter, players witnessed some weird footsteps in the snow, which puzzled them because no other characters were there. However, upon tracking the trail, players witnessed the past as it is made by the ghost, and it travels quite far before disappearing out of the player's field of view.

Now, this is currently a point of debate among Red Dead Redemption fans. Some claim that this could just be a simple glitch, but of course, given that Red Dead Redemption 2 is no stranger to supernatural encounters, it is not unlikely if what these players saw in Red Dead Online is indeed a ghost.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
