With just a few short days to go before the official launch of Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2, there's no doubt that myriad gamers are eagerly anticipating this weekend's arrival so that they will finally be able to get their hands on a copy of the title. While fans wait, though, it seems like they can now get a much better idea of the size and scale of RDR2's world, as the forthcoming western release's full map has leaked online.

As seen in the image below courtesy of the Redditor known as "Wave24", the map in question appears to be from a German version of Red Dead Redemption 2's official guide, as the phrase "orte für besondare zufallsbegegnungen" roughly translates to"places for special random encounters". While the picture gives a decent idea of the project's scope, its graininess does little to help one make out specific locations. With this being the case, fans wanting to plot out future travel routes in the game can find much higher quality photos of its map right here.

After getting a good gander at Red Dead Redemption 2's map above, it definitely makes sense as to why the open world western sequel's PS4 and Xbox One download sizes are going to take up so much hard drive space at launch. Rockstar has already touted that RDR2 features the developer's largest map yet, and it even contains the entire map that players encountered within the original 2010 release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Although it looks as if some fans' hopes of Mexico being a playable area at launch have been dashed, with Red Dead Redemption 2 providing such an diverse expanse to explore, it's safe to presume most players will be pleased with the map's content and size. So, taking all of this into consideration, all that we can do now is remain patient and find out if the long wait for RDR2 has been worth it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
