Gamers may have to wait a little longer than anticipated for Red Dead Redemption 2 after the title was delayed to October, but a recent leak may offer up new gameplay details to keep fans busy in the meantime. Although several batches of screenshots and two trailers have been released for Red Dead Redemption 2, not much is known about the gameplay, but that may have just changed.

According to a leaked document obtained by Trusted Reviews, Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to offer players more freedom than past games in the series, as they explore a vast open world. Not every location is listed in the document, but apparently Armadillo and Ridgewood are mentioned by name.

Although it was lightly explored in Grand Theft Auto 5, it sounds like Red Dead Redemption 2 will give the player a little more agency in the story. Depending on the choices they make at certain junctures, different scenarios will play out. Obviously, with this being a prequel to Red Dead Redemption 1, there are situations that need to play out a certain, but the moment-to-moment encounters reportedly will vary.

In typical Rockstar Games fashion, the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be populated by plenty of NPCs for the player to interact or do business with. It isn’t clear what the NPC vendors might sell but the essentials like gunsmiths and general store owners are mentioned. There is also apparently a secret market where the player can by goods for a discounted price.

Perhaps the biggest pull from the Grand Theft Auto 5 playbook is the use of a first person mode for the game. Added when the title made the jump to current-gen consoles and PC, the first person mode in Grand Theft Auto 5 worked surprisingly well for a game that was designed for third person. Perhaps knowing that the feature will be available upfront will give Rockstar more freedom to play around with the alternate camera angle.

Other highlights of the document include details about vehicles (carriages and mine carts), random events, a train for faster travel around the open world, and an expanded version of the Dead Eye mechanic. In addition to making the player character, Arthur Morgan, more deadly and accurate with a pistol, Dead Eye will also help track quests and find plants and animals.

While all of this sounds believable it’s important to take this leak with a grain of salt. Trusted Reviews only decided to come forward with the information since a lot of it started to come true, as Rockstar Games revealed more and more about the game. So it could very well be a legitimate source, or certain details are correct but others are made up. We will have to wait and see.
