Where to Find the Gorilla Easter Egg in RDR2

Players need to head to West Elizabeth in Red Dead Redemption 2 and its small town of Strawberry first in order to find this gorilla. The easter egg is located northeast of the town and to the east of Mount Shamm. There are two routes that lead to the north from Strawberry but, because both converge, taking either works. Once on this path, players will encounter a short wooden bridge and get themselves within reach of the gorilla.

Once there, players need to carefully head down towards the area underneath the bridge. Once underneath the bridge, players will start to see debris along this dry riverbed. Resting against a large boulder is a broken open box that contains the stuffed gorilla. This is where players have been turning on photo mode and capturing this strange selfie.

Where was the Gorilla Going?

Though West Elizabeth holds a number of odd sights, players may wonder why a taxidermied gorilla ended up here. Well, this large cargo was on the main route into Strawberry but it isn't likely that it was going to live in town. Instead, just to the northeast of Strawberry is a location called the Taxidermist House. It seems likely that this location filled to the brim with animals who have been stuffed would be the best candidate for explaining this discovery.

As to why this gorilla is currently sitting off of a bridge and abandoned, well, it was likely intercepted just as it approached the bridge. There are a number of dangerous groups and people in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 that could have attacked this cargo and forced it off the bridge. It is strange, however, that whoever spent the money to ship a gorilla to the West Elizabeth from Africa didn't attempt a retrieval. For now, it remains one of the best selfie opportunities in the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
