Though Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is arguably one of the most awarded video game franchises globally, it seems like there are only a handful of fans that are dedicated enough to dress up as their favorite cowboy characters. To add to the roster of Wild West-inspired cosplay, an RDR2 player recently shared a photo of them dressing up as gang leader Dutch van der Linde.
With just how popular the Red Dead Redemption franchise is, and how highly-anticipated the 2nd game was, the series’ online community is an active and engaging one. Reddit forums are always brimming with unique content, whether it is fan art of RDR2 characters, discoveries of in-game secrets long after the game has been launched, and even hilarious player instances via funny glitches. Therefore it is not surprising that cosplayers also take to the online forum to show off their Red Dead Redemption costumes.
Redditor Ok_Brother8531 recently posted on the platform, showcasing one of his Dutch van der Linde-inspired outfits. They were wearing the character’s popular striped shirt and ornate black vest, complete with accessories such as the vest chains and right red pocket square. In their photo, the original poster looked a very young version of Dutch, given that he was missing the gang leader’s well-known moustache. Fans of the character may also notice that the outfit did not include Dutch’s iconic black hat.

Red Dead Redemption 2 fans told Ok_Brother8531 that his outfit looked very cool. And some even role-played in the comments, alluding to many of Dutch’s iconic phrases in the game. The original poster also mentioned that they plan to cosplay more of Dutch’s outfits, particularly the one with the scarf that he can often be seen wearing within the gang’s camp set-ups. When asked if they actually crafted and tailored the outfit, the Redditor mentioned that most of the pieces were custom-made for him, and did cost him quite a bit to get an accurate fit.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has a variety of different characters that players meet as they go through the story. Though some of them are not as notable as John Marston, Arthur Morgan, and even Dutch van der Linde, they do play their own roles in the game’s main narrative. Hopefully more fans will be encouraged to dress up as their favorite RDR2 characters, and add to the ever-growing list of amazing content made for and by the game’s community.
