With an added sense of realism, a new protagonist, and new areas to explore, Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't just a simple sequel. As Rockstar previously confirmed and as players are finding out, the world itself is absolutely massive thanks to a map that is double the size of the first game. Even with such a large area to explore and nearly endless activities to distract, one player managed to find the very ends to the map and discovered what happens when Arthur Morgan crosses over.

Over on Reddit, jblack45 took the time to explore the furthest reaches of Red Dead Redemption 2's map. Heading due north for about 10 minutes from Cholla Springs in the west, the player finally reached the edge of the world, which could be clearly seen by a visible line in the sand and lack of texture beyond it. It seems that the game doesn't have any sort of invisible wall because crossing that line results in Arthur Morgan falling through the world into an endless void. When asked about it, jblack45 revealed that he ultimately had to reload a save to get it to stop.

Outside of all of the flat Earth jokes, it seems that players were hoping for something a little more interesting to happen when Arthur Morgan reaches the boundaries of the game. Instead of simply falling into a void, players were clearly hoping to see some sort of flashing message, respawn event or even a unique moment that ultimately sends the player back to a playable space. Others have recounted other interesting ways that games respawned out of bounds players like ATV Offroad Fury where an explosion knocks the player back to the middle of the map or Motorcross Madness making a whistle sound when it launched players back on to the track.

Open world games have a reputation for containing glitches and oddities and after a few weeks being available, players have started to discover a few within Red Dead Redemption 2. One player reported that they were able to glitch into the entire Mexican terrain last seen in the previous game. Other players have reported a strange road outside of Rhodes that causes anyone that travels on it to spontaneously combust and burn alive. The road looks harmless enough, but invisible fire spawns the length of it killing anything and also causing other side effects like clipping and black spots.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
