Red Dead Redemption 2 has a new release date and will be available later this year. Ahead of its hotly anticipated launch, retailers have put the game up for pre-order, letting fans reserve their copy in advance. It also seems that some retailers are giving better deals for pre-ordering than others by offering a major discount in order to the sweeten the pot.

Online technology and video game retailer Newegg is one of the retailers that is offering Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-orders. While the recommended retail price of the game is $60, Newegg is offering the upcoming Rockstar Games release with a $10 discount.

This discount is not listed on the Newegg website, and going to the Red Redemption 2 product page will show a crossed out $60 with a button to request the price. In order to secure the discount, fans have to click that button and either enter their email address or their mobile phone number, and Newegg will instantly send them a message with a link to get the game for $50 (a screenshot of this email is below). Alternatively, if fans don't feel like handing over their mobile number or email address, they can scan a QR code to reveal the price instead.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is expected to be a huge seller when it arrives later this year. Analysts have estimated that the game could sell 15 million copies, which is a phenomenal number. This high figure means that retailers like Newegg will all be competing to get fans of the cowboy adventure franchise to buy the game from their store instead of the competition, or buying the game via a digital download. As such, fans can probably expect plenty of other pre-order bonuses for the game to be announced before launch.

It's also important to note that Red Dead Redemption 2 will have online multiplayer, meaning that some pre-order bonuses may involve early content unlocks. It's currently unclear how the game's multiplayer will work, but if it is anything like Grand Theft Auto Online, those pre-order bonuses could include a hefty amount of in-game currency used for the online mode.

Fans can expect Game Rant to report more on these pre-order bonuses and deals as and when they're announced. But for now, that $10 discount is a pretty good deal for Red Dead Redemption 2 fans to save a chunk of change on their most-anticipated game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to launch on October 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
