In the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, there is a lot to do. While most players will focus on the main story, developer Rockstar Games has packed its latest release full of side missions, collectibles, and activities for players to collect or complete at their leisure. One that appears fairly early on involves finding 30 dinosaur bones for a woman named Deborah.

Get the Test of Faith Mission from Deborah

First, players must locate Deborah MacGuiness. Players may randomly happen upon ear while exploring the Red Dead 2 map or if they want to go directly to her she is in the Heartlands area. While looking at the map, Deborah should be South of the H in the “Heartlands” designation.

Head in that general direction and a grey zone with a question mark in the middle should appear. Deborah will be in a ditch digging up some bones. Approach her and talk to her to activate the quest.

Dinosaur Bone Locations

Once players have the mission called A Test of Faith, they will need to search around the Red Dead Redemption 2 map looking for dinosaur bones. After finding a dinosaur bone location, head to the nearest post office (a helpful place to clear bounties too) and send mail to Deborah. These bones can be anywhere – some will be in obvious places, while others will require a little more searching.

Luckily, the fine folks at Power Pyx have put together a helpful video showcasing all of the dinosaur bone locations in Red Dead Redemption 2:

The one important thing to point out is that some of the bones are locked behind story progress. We won’t say why but we recommend saving the dinosaur bone search for later in the game, if not after completing Arthur Morgan’s story, because it will preserve the discovery that comes with a Rockstar Games-created open world.

For those that might be wondering whether finding the bones is worth doing and the short answer is: only for those chasing 100% completion. As far as we know, there is nothing tied to completing the mission – no reward, outfit, or special weapon.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
