Red Dead Redemption 2 is absolutely chock-full of minute details that often go unnoticed. Players have made discoveries and marveled at how much thought went into making the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 feel real and lived in, and it seems as though new findings are made all the time.

One player has now noticed a particularly interesting detail while engaging in combat in the game. What could have been an easily forgotten moment became a memorable one when an enemy NPC landed a particularly good shot.

In a clip shared on Reddit, Illusivechris0452 shares the moment an NPC surprised them. Arthur is sitting in a boat and is about to enter a fight when the clip begins. However, Arthur has a low Dead Eye gauge, so Illusivechris0452 goes through their inventory and pulls out a tonic to restore Dead Eye. Arthur quickly takes a swig, as one would expect, but the moment of surprise comes when one of the enemy NPCs takes a shot that causes the tonic bottle to explode.

The likelihood of this happening seems to be pretty low, as many in the comments shared their surprise to see it happen. Drinking one of Red Dead Redemption 2's craftable tonics at just the right moment for it to be shot is a rare enough circumstance that it would have been easy for Rockstar to simply treat it like using an item from one's inventory in any other game, perhaps even placing the player in a state of temporary invincibility while in the animation. However, it chose this route instead, once again adding a shocking level of realism to the game.

Although fans of Rockstar Games are champing at the bit for a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption franchises, it's easy to see why the development on these games tends to take such a long time. Visually, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still quite impressive to see, despite its increasing age. Add on to that surprise moments like when another player noticed the extreme detail of an exploding fire bottle shattering into particles of glass, and it's clear that the developers put an immense amount of thought into fleshing out the worlds of the games, even if nobody notices for years post-release.

While Red Dead Redemption 3 rumors have already begun swirling around, many players would likely be pleased to see DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2. Unfortunately, while players have discovered an incomplete Mexico area in the game's files, it seems the game won't see any major content expansions in the future, and Red Dead Online players are losing hope of any major updates coming their way, either. Red Dead Redemption 2 is an amazing game that could be further built upon, but tiny details like these continue to impress with or without new content.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
