While Red Dead Redemption 2 gets praise for just how good the game looks and feels, because it's a video game there are times where things go a bit wrong. Such is the case in a recent Red Dead Redemption 2 video that showed one of Arthur Morgan's closest friends galloping headlong into a train and his death.

Because RDR 2 has been around for quite a few years now and because it's as popular as it is, there's really no shortage of funny videos and GIFs showing when something goes horribly wrong in-game. For the most part, Red Dead Redemption 2 players share these clips in good fun because they can elicit a chuckle. It's even become a kind of contest among social media users to find the funniest glitch or bug that shows up in the game.

The latest entry comes from Reddit user LewRiot who posted a video that he titled, "I think Charles needs an eye test." In the clip, Arthur (being controlled by the player) and his fellow Van Der Linde gang member Charles (an NPC) are seen racing on horseback towards a moving train. While Arthur eventually pulls up short so that he doesn't run directly into the train, Charles doesn't follow suit. Instead, he rides head first right into the side of the train, killing himself and his mount.

If the scene wasn't funny enough on its own, the game gave the player a mission fail because it forced Charles to kill himself due to the RDR 2 bug. After the character died, the screen greyed out and the action slowed down as it does when the player is going to have to start something over. It also delivered the message that the mission had failed because Charles' horse had died.

Several Reddit users noticed that the game didn't seem to care at all what happened to Charles, while his horse was "essential, apparently." Others said they laughed out loud at the scene despite knowing it was coming the whole time.

Yet another user simply commiserated with the person who had put up the video in the first place. They explained that it wasn't unusual at all for NPCs in the game to behave like that. The characters can get locked onto a mission finder and nothing is going to get in their way. That apparently includes taking any notice at all of a train directly in front of them.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
