There's no doubt that the relationship between players and their horses can go deep in Red Dead Redemption 2, and Rockstar Games has ensured that fans are given a wide variety of different breeds from which to choose. That said, though, the studio has put one wild horse in the open world western that's simply head and shoulders above all the rest. Those interested in finding and taming this superior steed would do well to follow along below.

Go to Lake Isabella

First off, Red Dead Redemption 2 players will need to head northwest to the top left-hand corner of the map to visit Lake Isabella. One will want to place their waypoint marker on the map near the road wrapping its way up the left-hand side of the lake.

With Lake Isabella being a snowy location, not only should players throw on some winter garb to keep Arthur's core stats in check, but also the horse could be a tad difficult to find, as its white coat tends to blend in with the environment. Dubbed the White Arabian, Red Dead Redemption 2 players will need to be vigilant for its whereabouts. However, the horse should be in the general area near the lake, as that's its fixed spawn spot.

Listen for the White Arabian's whinny, as there ought to be wolves antagonizing it at first. With this being the case, be prepared with the sawed-off shotgun to eliminate them as a threat. Of course, all of this chaos causes the much-coveted horse to storm off in terror. So, after dealing with the wolves, follow the hoof tracks and approach the horse as delicately as possible.

Calming the White Arabian

With this horse in particular arguably being Red Dead Redemption 2's best steed, it will likely prove to be a lot more difficult to calm than others. That said, though, it's not impossible if one maintains patience and persistence to the task at hand.

In order to not spook the White Arabian off, players will need to approach it very slowly from a distance, making no sudden movements along the way, while holding onto L2 or LT once the prompt shows up to lock onto its location.

Also, keep an eye on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Anytime it starts to deplete, stop completely, and then tap Square on PS4 or "X" on Xbox One to calm the horse before approaching it any further. Repeat this process until getting close enough to pat it, and then mount it.

Mounting and Taming the White Arabian

Once Red Dead Redemption 2 players have mounted the White Arabian, they will need to stay balanced on its back by moving the left analog stick downwards, and then in the alternate direction of wherever the horse is moving. For instance, if the horse starts going right, move the stick left. Once it starts to buck backwards, move the stick forward, etc.

This process could take a little while until Arthur finally gets the horse under control, so for those who get bucked off, track the horse again and repeat the method above to break it in. And naturally, since this particular steed is wild, it could continue to have some untamed tendencies later on down the road. In order to quell this, players will simply need to bond with it over time to make it more obedient.

Making the White Arabian One's Main Horse

Red Dead Redemption 2 players will definitely want to make the White Arabian their main horse once it's broken in. After all, it comes out of the gate with a Health and Stamina rating of 5, its Speed and Acceleration ratings start at 6, and it includes Elite handling.

After breaking in the horse, players will then need to take the saddle off of the one they used to ride to Lake Isabella and strap it onto the White Arabian. Now it is the player's main horse. Should one want to head to the stable with both horses and save the game, Arthur's previous horse should follow him and the White Arabian all the way there.

Red Dead Redemption 2 also offers players the chance to acquire a high quality Black Arabian and a stellar Rose Arabian–both of which have the exact same Speed and Acceleration ratings of the White Arabian, and a little bit more Health, too. That said, though, those two come from story progression and must be purchased for a somewhat tidy sum.

All things considered, with the White Arabian having top-tier stats and essentially being a free horse due to its existence in the wild, Red Dead Redemption 2 players are given a bargain if they're up to the challenge of taming the animal. So, there's no doubt that a majority of players will wind up making it their main horse for the foreseeable future, and they will brush it, pat it, feed it, and love on it any chance they can get. Of course, just make sure to keep leveling up Arthur's stats, too.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
