Red Dead Redemption 2 is full of interesting characters and locations, but perhaps the most entertaining aspect of the game is its wildlife. There are countless creatures and critters scattered throughout Red Dead's huge world; some of which can behave in incredibly unpredictable ways at times. Whether they're randomly attacking players in the middle of a mission or glitching out with hilarious side-effects, they're definitely worth keeping an eye on. Occasionally, however, players may need to turn their gaze skyward in order to get a better view of the action.

There are 82 unique species and 178 subspecies that players can interact with throughout Red Dead Redemption 2, many of which are birds. Killing these avian creatures can be a quick and easy way of obtaining animal fat for crafting ammo or gathering feathers to create new accessories, but it can also lead to some interesting and unexpected occurrences from time to time. While most of these are nothing to write home about, one player recently had a pretty hilarious encounter with a duck while playing the game.

After exploiting a glitch to escape from the map near the mining town of Annesburg, Reddit user Blue_Moon_Cheese had Arthur pick up the rotting carcass of a duck and then release it. Rather than it falling to the ground as one might expect, however, the winged waterfowl began slowly floating higher and higher into the air; as too did the flies that had been feasting on it. The video, simply titled "A s c e n s i o n," is made all the more spectacular by the inclusion of the Halo theme music and Arthur randomly falling over due to the alcohol consumption that was used to trigger the out of bounds glitch.

Although Rockstar has patched many of the older methods of getting out of the main map in Red Dead Redemption 2, it's still possible to do so in certain locations. Given how little is out there though, there's very little reason to do so, but that doesn't always stop players from trying it out once they have completed everything else that the game has to offer. It certainly helps that it is incredibly easy to pull off, with players needing only to have Arthur drink until he passes out in specific spots around the edges of the map.

Players don't need to be out of bounds to experience strange animal-related encounters though, with many having been reported by players over the past few months alone. One player recently experienced an interesting visual glitch when he revived a horse that had been set on fire, for example, while another received help from an unlikely ally while being pursued by some of Red Dead's bounty hunters. Whether Blue_Moon_Cheese's anti-gravity duck is up there with these other wacky wildlife moments is perhaps a matter for debate, but it's definitely one of the more unusual moments from the game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
