A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has shared their recreation of Pinkerton Detective Agency founder Allan Pinkerton in Rockstar's open-world game. The incredible likeness is part of an amazing Red Dead Redemption 2 mod.

Allan Pinkerton is an important figure in Wild West folklore. Known as the man who chased Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, and the Jesse James gang, he was also tasked with protecting President Abraham Lincoln. His company still exists to this day, and it was not happy about its name being used in the game. Red Dead Redemption 2 developer Rockstar was sued by the Pinkerton Detective Agency after the game's release, demanding royalties for the use of the name. The agency being portrayed as villains likely did very little to endear Rockstar to them.

Redditor TheKey32 posted their great version of Allan Pinkerton from Red Dead Redemption 2, alongside a picture of the man himself for comparison. The likeness is striking, and he looks right at home within the game itself. It makes sense - the Pinkerton Detective Agency is one of the main antagonists of Red Dead Redemption 2's story, pursuing the Van Der Linde gang across the Old West. Having Allan Pinkerton as part of that will add massively to the authenticity.

This recreation is part of a wider mod for the game, called the NPC Makeover Project. This mod aims to bring many of the iconic figures from the Wild West into Red Dead Redemption 2, really adding to the Western vibe. Allan Pinkerton replaces Agent Milton in the story, with plenty of others also a part of the mod. This Red Dead Redemption 2 fan also recreated President Ulysses S. Grant for the project, so the type of historical figure they choose to recreate varies a lot.

It's great that the modding scene for Red Dead Redemption 2 remains steady and active. There are games like Skyrim and Fallout 4 that have a bigger modding community, sure, but not every title can reach those dizzying heights. What matters is that gamers continue to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2, and are able to add to it in new and interesting ways. It seems that Rockstar support for the title is officially over, and installing some fresh mods is the next best thing after some brand-new DLC. Hopefully the modding community remains active all the way to the release of Red Dead Redemption 3, but this is likely some years away yet.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
