It's been over a month since Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on the Xbox One and PS4 to robust critical and commercial success, and today the online mode enters its beta phase for those who invested in the Ultimate Edition. Unfortunately, some players are having problems accessing the Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta, spurring a response from Rockstar as well as supposed workarounds from the community.

As Red Dead Redemption 2 fans eagerly launched the game this morning in anticipation of its online mode, some players on Xbox One were instead greeted by the familiar "Coming Soon" screen when they tried to access the beta. No issues were reported by PS4 users, and yet even hours after the beta apparently launched, people continue to report that the Xbox One version of the online mode is unavailable to them.

Rockstar released a statement on Twitter acknowledging the issue and imploring affected users to be patient while they work on a resolution. The tweet fails to mention a reason Xbox One players are locked out of the online mode beta, nor does it provide a time frame as to when they'll gain access. A follow-up tweet reaffirms that they are "working on a fix" and includes a link to Rockstar's support page.

As of this reporting, it's still unknown as to when the issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 Online and Xbox One will be resolved. In the meantime however, some users are sharing workarounds that helps them gain access to the beta. Twitter user @KalamaEpstein suggests first launching Story Mode and then accessing the online mode via the in-game menu.

Hopefully Rockstar will come out with a more official solution shortly, however until then, players can prepare themselves by becoming familiar with the various online game mods available. Including among the offerings is a mode called 'Make it Count' that offers players a bare-bones arsenal and a shrinking arena, and tasks them with being the last person alive.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for Xbox One and PS4.
