A month after the game's initial launch, and Red Dead Redemption 2 has released its online multiplayer component, Red Dead Online. It allows players to engage in various free-roaming activities, as well as dedicated multiplayer matches like the Make It Count battle royale mode. Additionally, Red Dead Online has a handful of story missions for players to complete as well, though the way they're implemented in the game has caused some confusion.

When playing Red Dead Redemption 2 online, players can team up with their friends to take on a variety of story missions, which are still being discovered by the community. Some of the story missions require players to have high honor levels, whereas other story missions require the exact opposite, meaning players will have to purposefully lower their honor levels to unlock them.

It's also unclear exactly how many story missions are currently available in Red Dead Online. There are conflicting reports, and it's possible that many of the story missions are simply unavailable at this time. After all, Red Dead Online is technically in its beta phase, and so it's possible Rockstar is waiting to add the rest of the story content.

For any Red Dead Online enthusiasts who are curious to know if they've already completed all of the available story missions, we found the following list of missions to be the most comprehensive. Again, it's possible that there are more story missions in Red Dead Redemption 2's online that have yet to be discovered, and it's also worth pointing out that one's honor level could be why certain missions aren't appearing. Regardless, players should able to compare this list to the missions they've completed in-game to get an idea of what they have left to do:

  • Highly Illegal and Highly Immoral
  • Honor Among Horse Thieves
  • If the Hat Fits...
  • Kerosene, Tar, and Greed
  • Kill Them, Each and Every One
  • Love and Honor
  • More Than One Way to Earn a Buck
  • The Right Side of the Tracks
  • Where Your Morals Lead You

It's unclear exactly which missions are unlocked by honor levels, but changing one's honor rating is something Red Dead Online players can try to unlock new story missions. In the coming weeks, it should become clearer how to unlock each story mission so players won't have to do any guesswork.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.
