Red Dead Online has been steadily updated since leaving Beta with new missions, care packages, and limited-time holiday events that have begun to lay a strong foundation for the future of Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode. In a new update that is expected to arrive sometime this summer, players can expect three new specialist roles, including the Bounty Hunter, the Trader, and the Collector.

Described as "unique paths of progression" that will allow players to connect with their characters in a deeper way, Red Dead Online's new specialist roles will provide their own unique gameplay experiences and benefits. Players will have the option to progress with one specialist role or all of them simultaneously, showing other players how far they've progressed within each of the roles. For now, only the Bounty Hunter, Trader, and Collector roles will be available but Rockstar has confirmed these are the first three roles in an ongoing series.

The Bounty Hunter role is one on both sides of the law and players can capture or kill their targets depending on honor. Progressing with the Bounty Hunter will unlock special items such as a reinforced lasso, as well as intricate gun-spinning tricks, advanced tracking skills, and the ability to use Eagle Eye while sprinting or galloping on horseback.

The Trader role is for those players that like to hunt and want to earn good money from their gains. Traders will be able to create a business at Camp and take on "new opportunities" to collect and produce valuable goods. Progressing with the Trader role will unlock new Camp upgrades including a Weapons Locker and Stew Pot, an ability where canine companions will warn when an attacking is heading their way, and other assets for the business such as hunting wagons.

The Collector role can be started by locating a mystic traveling saleswoman. The Collector is for players that love to explore the world and will be handsomely rewarded for finding lost jewelry, rare arrowheads, and other treasures. Progressing with the Collector role unlocks new tools including Refined Binoculars, a Horse Lantern, and a Metal Detector, as well as new skills to help with the search.

Finally, a few additional enhancements expected in the update we're also mentioned including the ability to reset a character's appearance, combat and movements changes, damage reduction to defensive players, additional lootable items in the world, and the fact that the game will now automatically remember preferred playstyles.

Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online had a rocky launch that pushed a lot of players away due to limited activities and things to do, and nefarious microtransactions that catered heavily to players buying Gold Bars over earning them through playtime. Additions such as the Sadie Adler stranger mission, more weapons and clothing, and these new specialist roles are a big step in the right direction to turning Red Dead Online into the success that GTA Online eventually became.

Rockstar hasn't confirmed exactly when the new updated is expected to launch outside of "later this summer." For those players that are expecting to return once the updates releases, here are 10 ways to earn money faster in Red Dead Online.
