Rockstar Games Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto Online have seen their share of hackers, modders, and exploits over the years. While most modders typically use these cheats for personal gain or to harass other players, every once in a while a modder will engage in harmless pranks, as two players in Red Dead Online discovered for themselves.

Hacking in Red Dead Online has been a big deal in the past, with modders purposefully targeting streamers and fellow players in an attempt to get them banned. Rockstar Games has attempted to crack down on hackers since Red Dead Online's launch, but like practically every online game in existence, those creating the hacks adapt.

The photo shared by Redditor Ghroznak is quite amusing, even at first glance. The two players are standing with their backs to the camera, which are adorned with massive signs declaring "DONATE: Please Donate For the Poor." The Redditor seems to be amused by it, even admitting that he and his friend's characters are poor.

Apparently, the two players found themselves adorned with the donation signs after performing a Moonshiner mission. It's not clear who decided to put these signs on them or why, though as commenters pointed out, it's a much kinder prank than the harmful hijinks that many have to put up with when they have the misfortune of running into a modder.

Players of Red Dead Redemption 2's story mode likely recognize the sign, as it comes from the 'Of Men and Angels' mission. In it, Sister Calderon is gathering donations of money and food to assist the poor in the area, with the sign and donation bucket next to her. It seems the modder simply spawned this item onto the players as a joke.

Hackers seem to be becoming more of a problem than ever before in multiplayer competitive games, with outcries of hackers plaguing games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Fortnite being particularly noteworthy. While some players will likely utilize hacks for a bit of harmless fun like this, it doesn't change the fact that they're breaking the game's terms of service and could be penalized or banned accordingly.

Defeating hackers is a never-ending battle for game developers, but it may not be all that Rockstar Games is up to with Red Dead Online. A game glitch recently resulted in a player spawning in Mexico, which was available in the first game, but not this one. It remains to be seen if it's a scrapped area or in-progress DLC, but players seem hopeful for the latter.

Red Dead Online is available now for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
