Big changes are coming to Red Dead Online in the form of Rockstar Games' next significant update: Frontier Pursuits. Today Rockstar delved further into what fans can expect of the Red Dead Online update, including some key features and a new Battle Pass, when it goes live on September 10.

The Frontier Pursuits update will be implementing specialist roles in Red Dead: three different paths that come with their own ranks, skills, and gameplay for players to explore. Rockstar Games launched a teaser to give players a taste of the Bounty Hunter, Trader, and Collector roles in action. Of course, specialist roles aren't the only features being introduced; Red Dead Online is also getting a battle pass--or in this case, an "Outlaw Pass." The Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club offers free access and, as with most battle passes, players can unlock a vast assortment of rewards as they accumulate XP.

Every player will be automatically enrolled in the Club, and whatever they unlock during the membership period can be kept, which include new clothes and accessories, tonics, bonus cash, gun wraps, and more. The Outlaw Pass is a monetized upgrade of the basic club membership, and if purchased, offers even more of the aforementioned cosmetic rewards.

Rockstar described the outlaw pass as "an upgrade that offers even more items and the kind of perks that befit a debonair, well-traveled outlaw - at a heavily reduced cost." The upgrade costs 35 gold bars in game currency, for players who want any and every Red Dead Online perk they can get their hands. On top of that, as with the free version, anything players score with the Outlaw Pass is theirs permanently.

Running from September 10 to November 18, the membership period is players' chance to rack up some serious free rewards, and Rockstar insists that the content included in Frontier Pursuits is a “fundamental change” for the game's future. So far, it seems as though these major changes will certainly keep Red Dead Online interesting for the time being.

Red Dead Online is free to play for anyone who owns Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
