There are official LEGO sets for tons of popular franchises, including Star Wars and Batman, that let fans recreate cultural ephemera. However, people have also used the building block toys to get mileage out of not-licensed properties using imaginative builds, such as one fan making Pokemon's Regigigas out of LEGO or Reddit user sostrap creating Red Dead Online's Navy Revolver with an impressive level of detail.

Rockstar Games is constantly updating its open-world Wild West game with new content, including guns to collect. In fact, Red Dead Online's Naturalist update in July added a new role with more of a focus on tracking animals. However, the Navy Revolver stands out for having a variant called Lowry's Revolver that can be unlocked through a crossover with Grand Theft Auto Online, another of Rockstar's massive titles.

The version of the weapon created by sostrap, who also goes by Juan, airs closer to the basic gun with a few key differences like a smaller cylinder on account of translating it entirely to bricks and other LEGO components. However, where the recreation stands out is with its clever use of rubber bands to augment the trigger and hammer so they act like a real weapon. Its creator is even able to twirl the weapon like a true gunslinger in Red Dead Online.

This is not the only video game weapon that sostrap has made using LEGOs and basic tools like rubber bands. Their catalog on Reddit also includes the Cattleman Revolver from the Red Dead series, as well as the M6G Magnum from Bungie's Halo: Reach, available on PC through the Master Chief Collection, that has a removable clip.

While it is impressive to see elements from games like Red Dead Online brought into real life through creative means, the game itself also offers players a lot of room to be creative with elements like customizable characters. Plenty of fans have shared Red Dead Online characters modeled after Abraham Lincoln and others, and the fact that so many want to keep iterating within the game shows how successful Rockstar was at making a fun experience.

Fan-made LEGO creations are also only one aspect of the enjoyment that comes with the building block toys. Official LEGO sets seem to get more elaborate and inspired over time, with recent releases including a LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System for Mario's 35th anniversary.

Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
