Last week, Red Dead Online received one of its biggest updates so far in the form of Frontier Pursuits, which introduced brand new specialist roles, the Outlaw Pass, and a range of small changes like the ability to edit the appearance of any online character. Now, the next big addition to RDR2's online component comes in the form of a limited-time event called, Legendary Bounties.

Similar to Hitman 2's Elusive Targets, Red Dead Online's Legendary Bounties are a new limited-time event that takes place in the world for one week, challenging players with hunting down some of the most dangerous bounty targets across the five states. Each week, a brand new Legendary Bounty will become available to complete, replacing the previous bounty, seemingly forever.

Starting from today until September 23, Barbarella Alcazar will be the first of ten planned Legendary Bounties that will be coming to Red Dead Redemption 2's Online mode. The bounties can be obtained from any bounty board and can be completed either solo or with a posse of up to four players. Players will be rewarded with a "handsome sum" for capturing targets alive or a slightly reduced rate if they're accidentally killed; exactly how reduced is yet to be confirmed.

On top of the new Legendary Bounties, Madam Nazar is looking for three unique items from the Pearls of the Sea collection and she's tasked players who've chosen the Collector specialist role to find them. The new weekly event requires Collector's to locate the Durant Pearl Bracelet, the Pelle Pearl Necklace, and the Bonnard Pearl Ring before September 23 for a big payout. There will also be a brand new Shootout Series offering free-aim variants of Most Wanted, Name Your Weapon and Public Enemy, and an additional 3000 Club XP for playing online during the week.

The new Frontier Pursuits update has added a ton of new things to do in the world of Red Dead Online from new game modes to limited-time events, character customization, and specialist roles that allow players to change the way they play the game. Introducing weekly events such as the Legendary Bounties and treasure collections help expand those specialist roles in unique ways, making the choice feel a lot more impactful to the player's overall experience.
