Red Dead Online is finally receiving its highly requested and anticipated update, which is getting dubbed the title, "The Naturalist." Rockstar Games dropped a trailer for the new update, as well as update notes on its site detailing every new addition and feature present in Red Dead Online's July 28 update.

The most notable addition found within this new update is the new Frontier Pursuit, the Naturalist Specialist Role, which opens a new path focused around tracking, studying and hunting animals. Naturalists get access to a new role progression, gameplay and several new items. This is the clear focus of the update, with the entire update being named after it. Click here to see the full patch notes.

The update also adds a wide range of new species and sub-species, including: Cougar, Fox, Boar, Beaver, Wolf, Bison, and Elk. Each new species also has three separate subspecies, with some more rare than others. In all, that makes for 28 new species to discover in this new update.

Two new Naturalist Role-related Free Roam Events are also included in the new update, including Protect Legendary Animal which has players working together to free and escort a Legendary Animal species from Poachers, and Wild Animal Tagging which sees players cooperating together to sedate and tag a certain number of animal species within a set amount of time.

The update features tons of more content, including: five new Dynamic Events, several new Daily Challenges, new items and variations of Clothing and Outfits, new Tonics, Animal Trinkets, new Crafting Recipes, one new horse breed with six coat variations, new items of Horse Equipment, two new Weapons and three new Weapon Variations, and much more.

Just by going down the very long list of new additions, it's clear that Rockstar Games put a lot of work into this new update. This update was highly requested by fans, with many Red Dead Online players going so far as to dress up like clowns and exhibit other strange behaviors in-game, in an attempt to grab the company's attention and express their desires for an update. Whether or not that was the cause for Rockstar Games' new update, players can now enjoy the update and can expect more new updates to come in the future, as recently promised by the company.
