A Red Dead Online player has shared a video showing a clever way that gamers are able to deal with hackers in the game. Hackers in Red Dead Online are not in short supply, with the problem now driving many away from the game.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the lack of updates for Red Dead Online has caused a resurgence of hackers in the game lately. They're able to jump in and take over the server, with average players being completely helpless most of the time. It's certainly frustrating, especially because of the lack of alternatives in the open-world Western genre. The anarchy can be interesting to watch, but for players who just want to be a cowboy in the Wild West, it's definitely not quite as fun to be a part of.

The post by Redditor TitonUchiha shows the player and their friend in a fight with a hacker using god mode in Red Dead Online. When it becomes clear that they're not going to be able to kill them, they take another approach. Instead, they knock the hacker to the floor, and choose to hogtie him instead. It's certainly a creative solution to take the cheater out of the game. There's definitely a sense of helplessness to hogtying in Red Dead Online, one that even a god mode hacker can't overcome. As long as god mode is the only cheat being used, there's nothing they're able to do in response, ruining their idea of fun.

Gamers in the thread were impressed by the technique, and shared their own ways to deal with hackers in Red Dead Online. One player even suggested tossing them into the ocean while hogtied. According to their comment, the god mode makes the drowning animation replay for the hacker infinitely, leaving them stranded and unable to do anything about it.

Red Dead Online is a game that relies on the strength of the interactions between players. It needs to retain an active player base in order to stay fun, and the players have to be acting in some sense of good faith towards each other. But right now, Red Dead Online lobbies are hell at the moment, and it's not something players are likely to put up with for too long. It would be a huge shame to see the game die because of the abundance of hackers. There's ultimately no perfect solution, but Rockstar should rethink its stance on the abandonment of the game to ensure it remains active until at least the release of Red Dead Redemption 3, which will likely not come for several years.

Red Dead Online is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
