A longstanding feature from Red Dead Online is about to go away to the dismay of many players that have previously used the mechanic as their primary reason for signing in every day. While this daily challenge isn't going away entirely, Rockstar will be setting up a rollback system that will stop players from accumulating massive amounts of gold to spend in Red Dead Online through the Daily Challenge Streaks.

Originally announced to players by Rockstar, the news has quickly gone viral among the Red Dead Online community, with responses ranging from supportive of the game and company, to upset about the upcoming changes. Regardless of the community response to the issue, the change will be coming on December 1st, meaning that players will soon be losing the best way to farm gold in the game.

What this all means is that the Daily Challenge Streak, which currently gives higher rewards based on a player's streak, will no longer extend beyond 28 days. Considering that the current model allows players to earn daily gold bars in Red Dead Online, maintaining a long enough streak has become a necessary part of the game for players that would rather earn premium gear, instead of buying it. However, allowing players to continue gathering gold in this way does mean that longtime players are less likely to spend money on the game, making these Daily Challenge Streaks cut into the game's intended revenue stream.

The change has been met with a lot of criticism from the community, especially those who have logged in to complete Daily Challenges every day for well over a year. While the initial response will be negative, Rockstar is prepared to give extra bonuses to Red Dead Online players that manage to hit the 28-day mark, which could be enough to make up for the streak loss.

It's clear that this was a planned response to the rapid availability of gold to players who managed to keep their streaks going, with some players assuming that this may be a way to balance the economy. If Rockstar let the streaks continue and some players could stockpile gold, then many of the premium items would need to be priced in accordance with the current economy. Now, the developer will be able to find price points that are less expensive, or at least that's what players hope one byproduct of this change will be.
