Rockstar Games' numerous online titles, including Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online, have been putting out updates even while its employees work from home due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Today the company started an event in Red Dead Online that will give players 50 percent bonuses on XP, RDO$, and Gold when completing any Free Roam Events in the game.

According to the news release about the increase put out by Rockstar, this special bonus will apply to every Free Roam Event, with some examples given being fishing challenges or participating in games of King of the Castle and Railroad Baron. On top of that, players can receive a coupon that provides a 50 percent discount off "any coat that has a rank gate below 15" by completing a Free Roam Event in Red Dead Online before April 20, 2020.

This weekend will also host a giveaway with a free skill-augmenting Ability Card being provided to anyone who logs in between April 17 and April 20. Similar giveaways and discounts are happening in GTA Online as Rockstar aims to give its fans something to do while they are stuck at home due to closures of schools, businesses, and more.

Another big part of the announcement involves the return of the "Last Stand" Featured Series, as well as nine limited time items being brought back through the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue until April 27, including: Plaid Cap, Clymene Coat, Griffith Chaps, and the Macbay Jacket. More cosmetics returned to Red Dead Online earlier this month, such as a Gator Hat, Strickland Boots, and Vaquero Baroque Spurs.

Finally, Rockstar is offering a wide variety of discounted goods to players. For instance Shotguns and Multi-class Horses are 30 percent off, Emotes are 70 percent off, and Ability Cards are 80 percent off. This set of discounts is likely in-part to encourage more purchases while Rockstar Games is donating five percent of its proceeds to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.

The long-revered iconic game developer is not the only organization currently working to fight coronavirus. Sony created a coronavirus fund, meanwhile individuals like Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes have announced their intentions to donate. Rockstar's commitment to putting out content for its players is admirable, especially when it encourages them to help struggling communities worldwide in the process.

Red Dead Online is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
