It looks like Marvel's Spider-Man won't be the only game receiving free content this week as Rockstar Games has announced that Red Dead Online will be getting free content and in-game bonuses in celebration of Independence Day in the United States. Rockstar is kicking off the celebration with 30% bonus cash and XP, followed by new clothing, discounts at various stores, and a new free "Respective Bow" Emote.

Red Dead Online hasn't quite received the same level of content that has been added to GTA Online, however, Rockstar has managed to maintain steady updates with new weapons and missions added frequently following the end of Beta back in May. This new Holiday event isn't likely to bring back the masses, but there is a substantial amount of stuff to check out.

Firstly, players will receive an additional 30% Red Dead Online Cash and XP when completing any Free Roam missions, as well as a generous 30% off discount on weapon components including Rifling, Iron Sights,  Scopes, Stocks, and Wraps. When it comes to merchants, players will be able to pick up unlimited free Gun Oil to keep weapons in perfect shape, the popular Evans Repeater at a 25% off discount, and 50% off Red, White and Blue bandannas.

A range of new limited-time items have been added to the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue for purchase including the warm and woolly Pelt Half Chaps, the remaining stock of the Griffith Chaps, the sturdy Cromwell Hat, and the svelte Cabrera Pants. When it comes to free items, stores will be offering free Red and Blue flags to add to players camps, and a new "Respective Bow" Emote can be picked up from the Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue for this week only.

Rockstar Games has managed to continuously update Red Dead Online with new missions, characters, and in-game items such as weapons and clothing at a steady rate since the game's launch, even going as far as adding Sadie Adler in a new Strangers mission.

While PlayStation and Xbox players have been able to experience Red Dead Online since the release of the Beta in November 2018, it looks like PC players are going to have to wait a little longer following comments made by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. With Red Dead Online now officially out of Beta and next-gen consoles confirmed for 2020, it's unclear when, if ever, a PC version will materialize.
