Red Dead Redemption 2 is home to numerous memorable locations for players to encounter and explore, many of which resemble real world locations. About a month ago, an online user discovered a real life version of an iconic location in Red Dead Redemption 2. Now, as a result of Hurricane Ida, the real life equivalent looks quite different.

Back in early August, a Reddit user found a real world version of the Braithwaite Manor. A national historic site called Oak Valley Plantation in Louisiana bares an uncanny resemblance to the Braithwaite Manor. From the architecture, to the long rows of oak trees with dense branches creating almost a tunnel around the dirt path leading up to the plantation, it's surprising how similar it is to the in-game location. Although, after the events of Hurricane Ida, the scenery has been greatly affected.

A Reddit user named Theunknowing777 managed to capture an image of Oak Valley after Hurricane Ida had passed and while the building remains structurally in tact, the cacophony of trees surrounding the dirt path have had their limbs blown off. While the trees remain standing, the foliage is not as dense as it initially was, leaving the dirt road littered with large tree limbs.

The amount of destruction that Hurricane Ida has caused is rather unfortunate. While Oak Valley remains generally unscathed, it will likely take years before the tree limbs fully grow back. It's amazing that not only such a unique historical site has survived a hurricane of that magnitude, but also that it managed to serve as inspiration for a location in Red Dead Redemption 2.

It's amazing to see just how much real world influence is present within Red Dead Redemption 2. One fan managed to make an incredible find at a used book store in the form of a Sears and Roebuck catalog with the same typography and formatting as the catalogs featured at the general stores in Red Dead Redemption 2.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Red Dead Redemption moving forward. While the bulk of new Red Dead Redemption 2 content has come in the form of Red Dead Online, it's unlikely that Rockstar Games will release another mainline installment in the Red Dead Redemption series anytime soon, considering how long the development of the second game took. Though, there have been rumors of a potential remake of the first Red Dead Redemption, which Rockstar hasn't officially confirmed.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
