Razer has announced that it will be releasing a new version of its Hammerhead earbuds designed specifically for the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, the Razer Hammerhead Hyperspeed, later this year. The company is no stranger to releasing products designed to work with the latest consoles, and recently released a limited edition Razer wireless controller and quick charging stand for Xbox in early October.

Razer is a brand that has become well-known to gamers over the years, releasing products ranging from earbuds and mice to its high-end Razer Blade 15 laptops, and these new earbuds represent their latest attempt at ensuring gamers can use their products no matter what hardware they game on. Razer’s previous set of gaming-focused earbuds, the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds, were praised upon release for their sleek design and admirable sound quality. Though the RGB lighting Razer includes on many of its products has proven to be unpopular with some gamers, Razer hardware is generally well-regarded by both users and reviewers.

Announced with the launch of two new product web pages for each console’s version of the new line, Razer's Hammerhead Hyperspeed earbuds are an updated version of the Hammerhead True Wireless line priced at $149.99 and designed to pair seamlessly with the latest Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Both versions of the Razer Hammerhead Hyperspeed are licensed accessories for their respective consoles and will use 2.4GHz wireless to connect to the console in addition to Bluetooth 5.2 for connecting to phones, tablets, and other handheld devices. Each version of the earbuds also features up to 30 hours of battery life, ensuring players won’t be left unable to hear the action in the middle of an all-night gaming session.

The Hammerhead Hyperspeed earbuds will feature the same quality audio as the Hammerhead True Wireless earbuds, as well as Razer’s signature Chroma RGB lights. Each version of the earbuds will also sport a color scheme designed to match its accompanying console. Gamers who own both consoles might be especially interested in the Xbox version of the earbuds, since that version will also be able to connect to the PS4 and PS5 in addition to Xbox consoles. Although not specified on the product page, it can be assumed that the new earbuds will also be able to connect to the Razer Edge 5G, Razer’s upcoming Steam Deck competitor.

For gamers looking to upgrade the audio experience on their Xbox or PlayStation, the Razer Hammerhead Hyperspeed earbuds look like they could be a great option. The ability to use the earbuds with a wide range of existing devices in addition to the consoles may also help win over gamers hesitant about the hefty price tag. While it’s unclear if these earbuds can stop bullets like one owner’s Razer Kraken headphones reportedly did, they’ll undoubtedly be a great choice for gamers seeking quality wireless audio for their favorite console.
