The Razer Naga Pro is the latest mouse from the gaming hardware manufacturing company and is based on the design of the Razer Trinity, but with several touch-ups. It's everything PC gamers should expect from a mouse, with firm handling, an easy experience, and a solid level of versatility. Indeed, it would seem that choice and versatility were core tenets in the Razer Naga Pro's design, with that shining through more than anything else.
The biggest selling point for the Naga Pro is its 3 swappable side plates that have personalized button configurations. There is the 12-button plate that is optimized for skill rotation and macros, perfect for any MMO like World of Warcraft. There is the 6-button plate, which is the more balanced option and is perfect for battle royales or MOBAs. While the 2-button plate is the standard go-to for all FPS games and more.
Swapping these plates around as needed may seem like a task, but it's one worth doing. Each allows PC gamers to have the perfectly-stylized mouse at hand, for whatever game they're playing. Pair this with an ergonomic design and each plate fits perfectly in hand as it should, and it seems like a recipe for success. However, particularly in relation to the 12-button plate, it can be sometimes difficult to coordinate which button does what. Keeping up with each button's spot on the mouse without having to look and make sure to hit the button reliably requires some practice, but it becomes second nature quick enough.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that because these plates can be detached and re-applied, that does infer some upkeep on the user. There's not much users have to do to get the most out of these, but they appear simple enough to lose if not well taken care of. All in all, though, this is a minor worry with a proper PC gaming set-up.
The Razer Naga Pro also features its HyperSpeed Wireless technology, which promises a faster connection than a wired mouse, as well as its Focus+ 20K DPI Optical Sensor that allows for the most control no matter how wide the display. Its Optical Mouse Switches allow for specific clicks, double clicks, and durability to match the best out there. Further, there are basically 20 programmable buttons that give players a ton of control over their mouse, and this translates to its connection as well. It can also be connected via HyperSpeed Wireless, Bluetooth, or its Speedflex Wired connection.
Its charging options are no joke either. Via HyperSpeed Wireless, the mouse boasts a battery life of 100 hours or up to 150 on Bluetooth. For those who dislike cabled connections, there is an optional charging doc to get the job done.
Perhaps the biggest roadblock for many is the Razer Naga Pro's $149.99 price tag. The Razer Trinity, for example, offers 2, 7, and 12-button plates with a fewer bells and whistles, but it retails for $99.99. Putting the two Razer Mice side by side, the differences aren't apparent, as the design is almost 1:1. Their features may not be incredibly different, either, just a few added bells and whistles.
The Razer Naga Pro isn't the most expensive mouse out there, but it is on the higher-end of what many may expect to pay. Nonetheless, the level of versatility, the high-end features, and the variety of choices may make it worthwhile for those looking for the latest updates for a gaming mouse.
