Photo modes in video games are getting better and better by the day. The PS5, thanks to the 4K visuals, really make some of these new games pop. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, for example, has some really stellar visuals that look great in motion.

If one takes the time to grab some screenshots in Photo Mode, it actually looks even better. It’s thanks to modes like this that allow fans to help share games on a more comedic level. These Internet Memes, whether they are malevolent or just made for fun, have spread like wildfire among gamers.

10 The Power Glove

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

“I love the Power Glove, it’s so bad.” That is an infamous quote from The Wizard which is about some kids traveling to a video game tournament. It’s mostly a forgettable movie except for a few scenes with dialogue such as that which has been used in memes for ages now. Using it here for Ratchet makes sense in that the Omniglove he possesses is worth all of the shock and awe unlike Nintendo’s failed Power Glove peripheral.

9 Bonies!

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Toward the end of the game, the rifts are getting so out of hand that they start raising the dead. Ratchet calls these undead creatures Boon Goons but an equally funny name would have been Bonies. This is a reference to a skit from Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson.

The bit is about a future soldier coming back to warn Ebenezer Scrooge about an invasion of bone creatures, or Bonies, and only Scrooge has the power to stop them. It’s very bizarre but about as funny as a meme

8 The Same Quark

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

This joke uses a classic meme template from The Office. In this case, Pam is asked to compare the differences between Captain Quark and Captain Quantum. The latter of the two is Rivet’s version of Captain Quark who wears red instead of green and that’s where the comparisons stop. They are both fairly cowardly buffoons with hearts of gold perhaps steered in the wrong direction. It would have been more interesting if Captain Quantum proved to be more capable.

7 Secret Agent Clank

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

When Rivet first finds Clank she doesn’t believe his story that he comes from another universe. In order to prove what he is saying is true, she eventually hooks him up to a databank in order to reveal the truth.

Since she is syncing into his memory, it would have been funny to see something more embarrassing about Clank’s past such as this game in the meme. Secret Agent Clank was a PSP game from 2008 wherein Clank got contracted to be a movie star playing a James Bond-like version of himself.

6 Come With Me If You Want To Live

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

“Come with me if you want to live.” That is a line first spoken by Kyle Reese to Sarah Connor in the original Terminator film. From that point onward it became one of the series’ catchphrases along with being adopted into pop culture as something equally as popular. Whenever someone is extending a hand like Rivet is doing in the game as seen above, that’s a perfect invitation for a classic meme to be born.

5 Avoid The Noid

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

The Noid was a popular mascot from the 80s for Dominos Pizza. It was like the Trix Rabbit or really any other food mascot that warned people to keep their food away from these entities or else they would either eat or destroy their food.

The Noid itself was popular enough that there was even a video game on the NES made by Capcom which was hard but good. Captain Quantum’s all red attire and basic shape are very reminiscent of The Noid who has come back as a mascot for Dominos.

4 Crazy Taxi 4: Future

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

It has been a long time since Sega put out a proper console version of Crazy Taxi. The last game was Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller on the original Xbox in 2002. There have been some mobile spinoffs since but there has not been a numbered sequel is the point. The taxis in Ratchet and Clank’s universe could prove to be a fun new setting for Crazy Taxi to tackle next. Sega has expressed interest in some of their list franchises making a return so it is possible.

3 Panzer Dragoon Trudi

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Similar to Crazy Taxi, Sega also has not put out a new game in this series for equally as long. Panzer Dragoon Orta was a 2002 release in Japan for the original Xbox and launched a year later in North America.

It has at least received more love than Crazy Taxi in that the first game got remade in 2020 with its sequel remake expected sometime in 2021. What better way to celebrate this series further than a new game like the flying segments with Trudi in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart?

2 Glitch Vs Tachikoma

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

It would be surprising to learn that whoever designed Glitch never watched the anime show or film of Ghost in the Shell.

In that series, they have spider-tanks called Tachikomas. Glitch looks and sounds a lot like some of those units. Tachikoma are physical but they can also upload their AI into the cloud which sort of one-ups Glitch’s capabilities which is what this meme is referencing.

1 The Iron Giantess

A meme about Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

The “all female reboot” was a phenomenon in films that isn’t quite dead yet, but certainly didn’t make quite a splash in pop culture as many teams in the industry wanted. The Ocean’s 11 and Ghostbusters remakes/reboots are two examples.

This meme brings up this idea for an all female reboot of the animated film, The Iron Giant. Rivet and Kit share a similar relationship to the pair in that movie. This game in general could have become an all female reboot of the Ratchet and Clank series which could have proved to be more interesting.
