Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart offers several new features, and one of these should prove incredibly exciting for those that enjoy wearing alternate costumes. As detailed in the State of Play gameplay, one of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s side activities will see gamers hunting down several different sets of armor. These outfits are comprised of three parts, with players needing to gather the boots, chest piece, and helmet of every attire.

Once Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart fans have a full set of armor equipped, they will be given a series of beneficial stat boosts. Melee damage will be increased, more resources will be earned, and the playable Lombaxes will have increased resistance to specific enemy factions. However, while these stat boosts are neat, the different designs for the outfits is what truly makes them appealing. With the stat boosts being the same, players are free to wear whichever set they like the most. So far, several of these cosmetics have been revealed, giving Ratchet and Clank fans an idea as to what they can expect.

Galactic Ranger and Q-Force

These two armor sets call back to Ratchet’s origins and the hero’s failed attempt at being a Galactic Ranger. The suit of the same name is seen in the original game and the 2016 remake, and it features a helmet with a large orange visor. The Galactic Ranger logo is worn proudly on Ratchet’s chest, with every bit of the creature’s body covered in protective gear. As for the Q-Force suit, this flashy green costume refers to the former leader of the Rangers. While it is unclear if Captain Qwark himself will return in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, this outfit does make an appearance seem more likely. With an open mouth, Iron Man-like chestpiece, and a thin visor, the armor is certainly unique.

Wasteland Gear and Robot Pirate

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart fans can also throw the titular character into some more imposing looking outfits. One of these is the Wasteland Gear set, which sees a red “x” on Ratchet’s chest alongside some red eyes. A painted white symbol on the forehead and yellow accents on the armor make this black suit one of the scarier choices. A similar vibe is given off by Robot Pirate, which sees Ratchet’s helmet getting a white, skull-like design. Orange ears, shoulder pads, and accents are seen throughout, with sharp blue eyes included as well. A majority of the body armor is white and black, making for a sleek look.

Robot Disguise and Captain Starshield

Easily the most unique skin shown thus far, the Robot Disguise sees Ratchet wearing a bulky white costume. Another arc reactor-like chest piece is seen, with the technology hidden behind a light blue panel of glass. A similar blue panel is used as a visor on the helmet, though Ratchet is not visible to players. Instead, a pair of glowing white eyes are seen behind the visor. As for Captain Starshield, this silly-looking skin is a nod to a minor character from Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked. A dark orange star is seen glowing on Ratchet’s chest, with an orange belt buckle and knee armor seen as well. The mask and its orange goggles continue the trend, with the rest of the skin being pitch black.

Carbonox Armor and Lombax Praetorian

Carbonox Armor is the most recognizable of the alternate armor sets for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, as it has featured in several promo images and trailers thus far. A worn suit with a matching chest piece and thin orange visor, the skin is a perfect fit for a character like Ratchet who constantly finds himself getting into fights. While it will likely be unlockable in-game somehow, the Lombax Praetorian variant of the suit serves as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart’s pre-order bonus. Swapping the faded green with some sharp silver, the orange is also recolored to red. The result is an incredibly sharp skin for both Ratchet and Rivet, as a variant is available for both heroes.

Deluxe Edition Suits

Finally, there are the five Digital Deluxe Edition suits for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. Exclusive to this version of the game, the outfits include two skins for Rivet and three for Ratchet. For Rivet, the Rebel Armor will see her ditching her red scarf in favor for a red jacket. The Hacker Armor will see her wearing a VR-like headset, with pink accents seen throughout the skin. For Ratchet, the purple Scavenger Armor will be accompanied by awesome green night vision goggles. He will also get some yellow Android Armor, with rectangular blue eyes clearly visible. Finally, the white Imperial Armor is complete with an orange visor and accents, with the suit also covering Ratchet’s ears in white. While this will likely be a favorite for many due to its heroic vibe, it is clear that Insomniac is putting plenty of effort into all of the game’s alternate costumes.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart launches June 11, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
