At the beginning of the week, Insomniac Games finally revealed "Rivet" to be the name of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart's new female Lombax character, and now it has been steadily providing fans with more information about her. It notably revealed Rivet's voice actor to be Jennifer Hale, a veteran with a resume that spans video games, movies, and tv shows.

This time around, Insomniac Games decided to share things concerning Rivet's lore. On Twitter, the studio revealed that Rivet's trusty hammer consists of ultra-light teratannium metal and serves to destroy things rather than build them. Insomniac also revealed the planet Sargasso is Rivet's home base. For those that don't remember, Sargasso first appeared in Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction, and it's the planet Ratchet and Clank land on in the first Rift Apart gameplay trailer.

However, by far the most interesting details shared by Insomniac's tweet concern Rivet's goals and motivations. Rivet is a lone wolf resistance fighter that utilizes her engineering skills to defy tyrants like Nefarious and keep the Omniverse safe, but judging by the new Emperor Nefarious Rift Apart trailer, Rivet comes from a dimension where Nefarious always wins. In other words, before meeting Ratchet, Rivet is constantly fighting a losing battle, something that portrays her determination and stubbornness.

There's another interesting detail included in one of the tweet's images. The image's bottom-left corner contains a phrase written in Lombax that one fan translated to say, "Trust no bot." Rivet's origin for the phrase remains unclear, but it provides a strong hint toward her backstory. If her dimension constantly fails to stop Nefarious, someone who routinely uses robots in his schemes, then it makes sense why she doesn't trust robots. Maybe before the events Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, she unknowingly befriended one under Nefarious' control.

Rivet's shaping up to be an interesting character. Fans will likely have to wait until June 11 to find out everything she's about, but they'll receive more information regarding her during the April 2021 PlayStation State of Play, which takes place tomorrow. From sneak peeks provided by Insomniac so far, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will spend its time slot in the State of Play specifically on Rivet, showing off gameplay from her point of view. The event should give fans a pretty good idea of the character and how she compares to Ratchet.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart arrives on June 11, 2021 for PS5.
