Defying expectations, Rainbow Six Siege has been a runaway success for Ubisoft even after its problematic launch and initial slow sales. Now entering into its third year of post-launch content, Ubisoft is planning on making a number of significant changes to its extremely popular shooter. With Operation Chimera right around the corner, the game along with most of its various editions are getting a price increase.

The biggest change to the formula comes to the base version of Rainbow Six Siege, which is now known as the Advanced Edition. Though it comes with all of the content that the standard edition would come with, the bonus with this now $59.99 title is 600 Rainbow Six Credits to use within the in-game store. The Advanced Edition also comes with 10 free Outbreak collection packs, which are unique cosmetic packs arriving alongside Operation Chimera.

The Gold and Complete editions are also getting updated to include the 10 free outbreak packs, as well as the newly announced Year 3 season pass. Both editions are seeing a price hike as well, with Gold costing $89.99 and the Complete Edition coming in at $129.99 The Standard Edition remains largely unchanged as a PC exclusive, but features more expensive operator unlocks.

These changes officially arrive on February 13, 2018, applying only to new purchases of the game and have zero effect on current players.

Naturally, the announcement of a price increase to a game entering its third year of life left fans a little bewildered. The official Rainbow Six Twitter page spent a lot of time answer fans yesterday over social media. Most of the questions surrounded how and if the new outbreak packs would be added to existing Gold or Complete Edition owners, which isn't planned. For now, players who log in during the event will be getting four free packs.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
